What is the Biorock Technology?
The Biorock technology is an innovative and eco-friendly method of promoting coral reef restoration, developed by Thomas J. Goreau. It uses low-voltage electrical currents to facilitate the growth of a special limestone structure underwater, mimicking natural reef conditions. Corals attached to these structures grow at an accelerated rate and become more resilient to environmental stressors such as rising ocean temperatures and acidification. By combining nature and science, the Biorock technology is paving the way for restoring coral reefs in a sustainable manner.
